πŸ”— URL Encoder & Decoder

Turn β€œ%C3%BCber%20uns” back into β€œΓΌber uns”, make a safe link from text with spaces, or see every parameter hidden in a long URL.

Link breakdown

Paste a full link above β€” its parts appear here automatically.

What this tool does

Links can only contain certain characters. Spaces, umlauts and signs like & or ? must be written as codes like %20 or %C3%A4. This tool turns text into that safe form (encode) and back into readable text (decode). It also splits a long link into its parts and lists every parameter β€” and gives you a clean link without tracking tags like utm_source or fbclid.

How to use it

  1. Paste a link or text into the box.
  2. Tap Decode to make %-codes readable, or Encode to make text safe for a link.
  3. Look at the Link breakdown to see domain, path and all parameters.
  4. Copy the result or the clean link.

How to read the result

Encode (component) changes every special character β€” use it for one value, like a search word you put after ?q=. Encode full URL keeps : / ? & = so a whole link still works. Parameters marked (tracking) are only used for statistics; removing them does not change the page.

What it cannot do

Privacy: everything runs inside your browser. Your text is not sent to our server and is not saved.

Questions people ask

What does %20 mean in a link?

%20 is the code for a space. Links cannot contain real spaces, so they are written as %20 (or as + in forms).

What is the difference between encodeURI and encodeURIComponent?

encodeURIComponent changes every special character and is for single values. encodeURI keeps the link structure (: / ? & =) and is for whole links.

Why do I see %25 in my link?

%25 is the code for the % sign itself. It means the link was encoded twice. The decoder here undoes several layers automatically.

Is it safe to remove utm_ parameters?

Yes. UTM tags only tell the website where the visitor came from. The page stays the same without them.

Does this tool open the link?

No. It only reads the text of the link. Nothing is loaded or sent anywhere.
