Turn text or a small file into Base64, or turn Base64 back into normal text. Works with umlauts, Hindi, Urdu and emojis.
Pick a small file (best under 2 MB, e.g. a logo or icon). You get plain Base64 and a ready data URI.
Base64 is a way to write any data using only 64 safe characters (A–Z, a–z, 0–9, + and /). It is used to put images inside HTML or CSS, to send attachments in emails, and in many APIs. This tool converts in both directions. It uses UTF-8, so text like “Grüße”, “ਸਤ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਕਾਲ” or “👍” comes back exactly the same.
Base64 is always about 33% bigger than the original — the file box shows this. A data URI starts with data:image/png;base64, and can go straight into an <img src="…"> or CSS. URL-safe Base64 swaps + and / for - and _ so it can be used in links and tokens.
Privacy: everything runs inside your browser. Your text is not sent to our server and is not saved.
No. Base64 only changes how data is written. It does not protect anything. Use real encryption or a password manager.
Every 3 bytes become 4 characters, so Base64 is about 33% larger. That is normal.
It replaces + with - and / with _ and drops the = at the end, so the code can be used in web links and tokens without breaking.
Yes. The tool encodes text as UTF-8 first, so every language and emoji comes back correctly.
Choose the image in the File box, tap “Copy data URI”, and paste it into <img src="…">. Use this only for small images.
