What this tool does

It counts the exact time between a birth date and another date (today by default). You get the age in years, months and days, the totals in months, weeks, days and hours, the weekday of birth, and a countdown to the next birthday. Change the second date to find out how old someone was — or will be — on any day.

How to read the result

Months and days are counted the way people count in daily life: from 15 January to 14 February is 0 months and 30 days, to 15 February is exactly 1 month. “Total days” is the real number of calendar days, including leap days. The 18th birthday line is handy for school, ID and visa forms.

When it is useful

• Filling in a form that asks for exact age (school, Kita, visa, insurance).
• Checking age limits — for example 18 for a contract or a minimum age for a driving licence.
• Fun facts for a birthday card: “You are 12,000 days old!”.
• Finding how old someone was on a past date, like a wedding or their first job.

What it cannot do

• It does not use the birth time or time zone — only dates.
• Legal age rules can differ. In Germany, for example, the law (§ 187 and § 188 BGB) says you complete a year of life at the end of the day before your birthday. Usually that changes nothing, but for some cut-off dates (school entry, age limits) it can. Check the official rule for important deadlines.
• It does not calculate pension age, school entry date or visa rules for you.
• Dates before the year 1583 (old Julian calendar) may be off by some days.

How do I calculate my exact age?

Enter your date of birth. The tool counts full years first, then full months, then the remaining days up to today.

What happens if I was born on 29 February?

In years without 29 February, this tool counts the birthday on 28 February. The table shows a note about this, because some countries use 1 March.

Can I find my age on a past or future date?

Yes. Change the second date. For example, check how old you will be on 1 January next year.

Is my birth date saved?

No. The calculation runs in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server or stored.

How many days old am I?

Look at the “Total days” line. It counts every calendar day from your birth date to the chosen date.
