Rotate & Flip Images

Turn a sideways photo upright, straighten a crooked scan, or mirror a picture. You can do one photo or a whole batch. Everything happens on your own device — nothing is uploaded.

What this tool does

It changes which way a picture faces. You can turn it a quarter turn left or right, turn it upside down, nudge it by a few degrees to straighten a crooked scan, or mirror it so left and right swap places. The picture itself is not cut, resized or compressed beyond the quality you choose.

When you need it

• A photo taken in portrait shows up sideways on a computer.
• A scanned certificate or letter came out upside down.
• A page you photographed on a table sits a few degrees crooked.
• You photographed a document through a mirror or a glass door and the text reads backwards.
• A form wants all pages the same way round before you turn them into a PDF.

How to use it

1. Tap Choose photos and pick one or several pictures.
2. Use the buttons at the top to turn every photo at once, or the small buttons under a single photo to change just that one.
3. For a crooked scan, drag the fine angle slider until the edges look straight.
4. Pick a format. Same as the original is right most of the time.
5. Download one photo, or all of them together in a ZIP file.

Reading the result

The preview under each photo is exactly what you will get, only smaller on screen. The size in KB shown next to a photo is the original size; the saved file can be a little larger or smaller depending on the format and quality you picked. If you turn a photo by an angle that is not a quarter turn, the picture gets slightly bigger overall, because the corners need room. Those new corners are filled with the background colour you chose.

What this tool cannot do

• It does not open TIFF, BMP, HEIC or RAW camera files. Convert those to JPG first.
• An animated GIF loses its animation. Only the first frame is kept.
• It does not rotate a PDF. That needs a PDF tool, not an image tool.
• It cannot tell on its own which way up a photo should be. You decide, it follows.
• Very large photos, or a batch of many photos at once, can be slow or run out of memory on an older phone. If a photo fails, try fewer at a time.
• Saving as JPG again always loses a little quality, because JPG is a lossy format. Choose PNG if you need to keep every pixel exactly.

Your photos stay on your device

There is no upload. Your browser reads each picture from your phone or computer, does the turning on the spot, and hands the result straight back to you. Nothing is sent anywhere and nothing is stored. That is also why it keeps working when your connection is poor.

Questions people ask

Does rotating reduce the quality?

A quarter turn or a half turn does not change any pixel, so nothing is lost apart from the normal loss of saving a JPG again. A small angle does change pixels, because the picture has to be redrawn at a slant.

Can I rotate many photos at once?

Yes. Pick several files and use the buttons at the top. You can still fix a single photo afterwards.

Is anything stored?

No. The work happens inside your browser and the pictures are gone from memory as soon as you close the page.

Do I need an account?

No account, no sign-up, no limit on how many photos you use.
