How to read the result
The preview shows exactly what will be saved. On a PNG with a transparent background, the corners are empty — they may look white on this page, but they are truly see-through, so the picture sits cleanly on any colour later. If you chose JPG, the corners are filled with the colour you picked, because JPG cannot hold transparency at all.
Around 500 pixels is enough for any profile picture. Larger only makes the file heavier without looking better in a small circle.
What this tool cannot do
- It cannot remove the background around a person. The circle is a shape, not a cut-out. Whatever is inside the circle stays, background and all.
- It cannot add detail. Zooming in crops from fewer pixels, so heavy zoom on a small photo looks soft.
- It cannot make a JPG transparent. That is a limit of the JPG format, not of this tool.
- It cannot guarantee the app shows a circle. Some apps crop your picture their own way. The transparent PNG gives the best chance.
